A while back, we had a traditional Vietnamese Tea Ceremony.

In Vietnamese culture, the tea ceremony represents two families becoming one. The groom’s family brings traditional gifts: jewelry, dessert, tea, sticky rice, flowers, and a roast pig to the bride’s family to propose marriage. At the end of the ceremony, the bride’s family divides half of the gifts to return to the groom’s family, symbolically bringing the two families into one.

See some photos below of that wonderful day.

  • The procession of the groom’s family coming to the bride’s house.

  • The gifts that were brought.

  • The tea ceremony plus dawg.

  • A party after.

  • Our friends and family together.

  • Because this photo was funny we decided to post it.

  • It was a day we would never forget because our mom was there. And in many ways it helps to feel like she didn’t miss the wedding.

  • There were cakes and treats.

  • A Vietnamese tea ceremony is the equivalent of an engagement party and even a “wedding” in some sense.

Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate us that day. We hope to see you at the wedding!
